Well done to Mark Ruzanov, who was the only CRUIZ representative at the Australian Age Championships. He was 34th in Australia for the 14 years 100 breaststroke, and gained a great experience of national swimming.

 

Earlier this year, Skinny Gavel and Mark both swam in the Australian Open Water Championships. Skinny came 16th in the 15 years 7.5km (1:45:39.60) and 25th in the 15 years 5km (1:05:20.80). Mark Rusanov came 20th in the 14 years 5km in a time of 1:12:10.60).

 

State level swimming results

 

CRUIZ was represented by nine swimmers in the NSW Country Short Course in July 2016 by Stephen Ashton, Sarah Cullen, Skinny Gavel, Jack Howard, Griffin Hutchins, Catherine Khan, Mark Rusanov, Drew Smith, Katherine Tyo.

Top 10 places were achieved by Stephen (5th, 400 free and 9th, 200 free), Sarah (9th, 200 back), Skinny (4th, 1500 free, 8th, 400 free, 10th, 200 back); Griffin (10th, 100 breaststroke); Mark (2nd, 100 breaststroke, 8th, 200 breaststroke, 9th, 100 back, 9th, 100 fly); Drew Smith (9th, 100IM).

In the NSW Country Championships (LC) held in February, CRUIZ had 12 swimmers hitting the water: Stephen Ashton (who gained two Top 10 results, 4th in the 400 free and 9th in the 200 free); Darcy Bush (Top 10s in the 50 free, 1st place, 100 breaststroke, 7th, 100 free, 5th place); Sarah Cullen (Top 10s in the 400IM, 6th, 200 fly, 6th); Geprgia Fairweather; Skinny Gavel (6th in the 1500); Jack Howard; Griffin Hutchins (10th in the 100 breaststroke); Catherine Khan; Mark Ruzanov (6th, 100 breaststroke, 8th, 200 breaststroke); Noah Spedding-Hobbs; Dom Turner (6th in the 400IM); Katherine Tyo (4th, 50 back, 7th, 100 back; 8th, 50 fly; 9th, 100 fly).

 

In the State Age Short Course Championships held in August 2016, CRUIZ was represented by six swimmers: Stephen Ashton (who gained a 5th in the 400 free and 10th in the 200 free); Sarah Cullen; Skinny Gavel; Jack Howard; Griffin Hutchins; Dom Turner.

State Open Short Course representatives were: Stephen Ashton (who came 6th in the 400 free); Sarah Cullen; Skinny Gavel (who came 9th in the 1500); Drew Smith; and Dom Turner (who came 9th in the 400IM).

Katherine Tyo was the only CRUIZ representative in the 10U-12 Years State Age Championships, whilst seven swimmers represented at the 13-18 Years State Age Champs: Sarah Cullen (who achieved 9PBs and 7th in the 400IM); Skinny Gavel (6th in the 1500); Jack Howard; Griffin Hutchins; Mark Rusanov; Oscar Smith and Dom Turner.

At the State Open Champs we had two swimmers representing: Stephen Ashton and Sarah Cullen.

In in the NSW State Open Water Championships, CRUIZ had three swimmers: Georgia Fairweather; Mark Ruzanov and Skinny Gavel. Skinny gained 3rd place in the 5km and 2nd in the 10km.

A special "well done" to Travis Tong who ranked 1st in the 13 years and over boy's development level, with a huge 49 points!

Of these, Matilda Webb gained a 2nd place in the 15 years 1500 freestyle and a 3rd in the 15 years 800 freestyle, Lauren Elliott gained a 2nd place in the 16 years 800 and 1500 free and Georgia Fairweather achieved a 3rd place in the 15 years 1500 freestyle. Katherine Tyo achieved a 2nd place in the 11 years 50 backstroke and 50 fly and 3rd in the 100 back and 100 fly. Catherine Khan gained a 3rd place in the 50 fly for 17 years and over.

Darcey Bush achieved a 1st place in the 12 years 50 freestyle, 2nd in the 100 free, and 3rd in the 50 backstroke and 100 breaststroke. Noah Speeding-Hobbs gained a 2nd place in the 12 years 50 backstroke. Griffin Hutchins came 1st in the 13 years 200 breaststroke, 3rd in the 12 and 13 years 50 breaststroke, and 3rd in the 13 years 100 breaststroke. And our national representative, Mark Rusanov, gained a 3rd place in the 14 years 50 and 100 breaststroke and 400IM. Jack Howard achieved a 1st place in the 16 years 200 freestyle and 200 backstroke, 2nd place in the 50 freestyle, 50 and 100 backstroke and 100 fly, and 3rd place in the 50 fly. Luke Hinchcliffe gained a 1st place in the 17 years and over age group for the 50 and 100 freestyle and 2nd in the 50 fly. Stephen Ashton gained a 1st place in the 400 freestyle, 2nd place in the 200 free, and 3rd in the 100 freestyle. Oscar Smith gained a 2nd place in the 16 years 200 backstroke, 3rd place in the 16 years 200 freestyle, and 50 and 100 back, and 3rd in the 15 years 800 free. Skinny Gavel achieved a 1st place in the 15 years 800 freestyle, 2nd place in the 14 years 800, 400IM, 100 fly and 200 fly, 2nd in both the 14 years and 15 years 1500, and 3rd place in the 14 years 400 freestyle, 400IM and 15 years 200 fly. Joseph Pascall achieved a 2nd place in the 15 years 800 freestyle.
