Squad information

BLUE SQUAD

  • Blue squad offers young swimmers the opportunity to develop all four strokes and focus on perfecting butterfly and breaststroke.
  • This level is aimed at preparing swimmers for school carnivals and development meets.
  • Swimmers are required to swim 25m freestyle and backstroke utilising efficient technique and have an understanding of the breaststroke and butterfly kick.
  • Swimmers need to be able to swim 25 metres of freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke.

BRONZE SQUAD

  • Bronze squad offers young swimmers the opportunity to develop all four strokes and skills in preparation for school carnivals and development-level swim meets.
  • Swimmers are encouraged to attend 2-4 sessions a week.
  • Swimmers are required to swim 50m of each stroke utilising efficient technique.

SILVER SQUAD

  • Silver squad is for young swimmers who demonstrate efficient technique as well as endurance. At this level, swimmers should be preparing for distance/qualifying/country-level meets.
  • Swimmers are required to attend 3+ sessions per week.
  • Swimmers are required to swim 50m of each stroke utilising efficient technique.
  • Equipment needed includes kickboard, pool buoy, small hand paddles, fins and a kit bag.

GOLD SQUAD

  • Gold squad is for young swimmers looking to compete at state/national level.
  • Swimmers are encouraged to attend 5+ sessions a week.
  • Squad entry is determined by thee head coach.
  • Equipment needed includes kickboard, pool buoy, small hand paddles, fins, snorkel and a kit bag.

ADULT SQUAD

The adult squad provides a high-quality, structured program to a wide range of participants. From the competitive swimmer to triathletes and social swimmers, the squad will improve your swimming ability and physical fitness.

The squad is available for swimmers aged 16 years and over. Participants are expected to competently swim at least two out of the four strokes. We welcome everyone to come and have a go.

All sessions are conducted by qualified coaches. Swimmers should be prepared for sessions that will challenge them physically, and will receive high-quality coaching on advanced techniques.

  • Equipment used includes kickboard, pull buoy, fins, googles, cap and a water bottle.

There is no charge for an initial assessment with one of our coaches. Bookings are required: contact the Canberra Olympic Pool reception desk or call (02) 6248 6799.

Training fees

All squad members must be financial members of Cruiz. Fortnight training fees also apply, which cover coaching plus access to the Canberra Olympic Pool. For details, see our membership page.
